They provide leadership programs to veterans and their families.

She also created a camp curriculum for kids that teaches empathy, active listening and service, often using horses. It also ensures people can easily find the resources Mason offers for the military-connected community.

鈥淲hat excites me most is the untapped potential we have to reach and support this population,鈥 Renshaw said, adding that Mason is unique for its location and its large population of military-connected people.

鈥淢ason is dedicated to using its mission as a university to better everyone who it comes into contact with, and that鈥檚 what this initiative is about,鈥 Renshaw said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 about trying to tap into that intersection of the unique type of institution that Mason is, and its ability to serve and give back to this population that鈥檚 given so much.鈥
<div alt="Military Mondays Webinar Series" data-embed-button="media_browser" data-entity-embed-display="media_image" data-entity-embed-display-settings="{"image_style":"feature_image_large","image_link":"","svg_render_as_image":1,"svg_attributes":{"width":"","height":""}}" data-entity-type="media" data-entity-uuid="bc0e35d4-3540-4946-99a8-ab6d2a827c65" title="Military Mondays Webinar Series" data-langcode="en" class="embedded-entity">

Topics

Topics

Military

Military Veterans and Families Initiative (MVFI)

webinars

Guest Speaker

Campus News

Thu, 04 Feb 2021 19:38:10 +0000 Mariam Aburdeineh 44711 at Mason alumnus Michael A. I鈥檇 like to take a moment 鈥 in the midst of a global pandemic 鈥 to recognize and thank the preceptors, students, faculty, and alumni who are members of the Nurse Practitioner community.聽 This is a community that is growing strong across the country 鈥 with nearly 300,000 NPs nationwide 鈥 as well as here at Mason鈥檚 School of Nursing. In fact, just since 2016, our Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program has grown by more than 60%. These statistics are a testament to the integral role that NPs play in ensuring healthy communities and meeting the growing demand for health care.

The School of Nursing has long believed in the importance of NPs and fully support efforts for practice autonomy. Our faculty and preceptors play a critical role in preparing our NP students for practice and we are grateful for their experience, wisdom, and commitment.

We look forward to celebrating our NPs and aspiring NPs and their many accomplishments this week and every week.
