Biography
Dr. Kathleen Smith began teaching at 性视界传媒 in 2011. She received her masters and doctoral degrees in Music Theory from Florida State University where she听was honored with听a university-wide Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award.听She has听served on the听faculty听of George Washington University,听Northern Virginia Community College at听Alexandria, and听Shenandoah Conservatory.听
听
Dr. Smith鈥檚 research interests include minimalist and postminimalist composition and the analysis of popular music. She has presented her work at听the national meeting of the Society for Music Theory,听the College Music Society Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference,听the听Second International Conference on Minimalist Music, the听John Cage Conference, The 1980s: Popular Music and Culture Interdisciplinary Graduate Student Conference, and the Look and Listen Conference.
In addition to teaching,听Dr. Smith听plays trumpet and handbells at her local church where she also听co-directs a children's choir. She lives in Centreville with her husband and two daughters.
