What鈥檚 your program and year of study?听

I鈥檓 a senior Communication major who is also completing my MA Arts Management as an Accelerated MA student! This is my first semester in the AMGT undergraduate minor, and I plan to continue in the AMGT graduate program after completing my undergraduate degree.

Hometown?

NOVA!

Why did you choose Mason for your graduate studies?听

As someone local to NOVA, I always wanted to go to GMU because of its proximity to Washington D.C. yet still being in-state. I specifically joined the AMGT program because of a former dance teacher who used to be on faculty and told me about the minor.

What is your favorite activity or responsibility as part of your graduate studies?听

Internships鈥攁ll were really rewarding experiences. I interned with Washington Performing Arts last summer, then at GMU鈥檚 Center for the Arts as Programming and Engagement Intern this semester. At Washington Performing Arts, I worked as an听Advancement Intern. I drafted and edited patron communications and got to work with Tessitura which was a valuable experience that wouldn鈥檛 necessarily happen in a classroom. I have enjoyed how doors have opened to experiential learning through the AMGT program.

What鈥檚 the best class you鈥檝e taken so far?听

I loved classes Dr. MacKay! I also really liked Marketing and PR鈥攖he class was super informative and helpful, and I enjoyed the challenge. In all, I have felt really supported really supported by faculty in the program so far.

Any advice for prospective students?听

Try everything! If you think you want to go into a certain area鈥攇et an internship. If you don鈥檛 like it, keep looking for your area of interest. Continue trying new things!
