Public Comment Session Scheduled for April 5 During BOV Meeting

On Tuesday, April 5, the Board of Visitors will conduct a meeting with an associated public comment session. This meeting will include a presentation by Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance Carol Kissal on Mason鈥檚 FY 2023 financial plan, including proposals for tuition and mandatory fees. Rescheduled: Staff Senate Meeting with President Washington

The听April Staff Senate meeting听with Mason President Gregory Washington has been rescheduled for June 15 from 11 a.m. to noon.听Virtual meeting information will be shared closer to the meeting date.听

The April Staff Senate general meeting will not feature a guest speaker. Instead, the senate encourages staff to participate in the听 hosted throughout the week of April 4鈥8.听

2FA Required for Blackboard Effective April 5

On Tuesday, April 5, Information Technology Services (ITS) will enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for Blackboard, Mason鈥檚 learning management system. Once enabled, all users, including students, faculty, and staff, will be required to authenticate using 2FA with their Patriot Pass credentials when accessing Blackboard/myMason services, including Organizations and Courses.听

Dean Finalist Candidates for the College of Health and Human Services听

The Mason community is invited to attend听public presentations by the current finalist candidates for the position of dean of the College of Health and Human Services. Those who attend will be asked complete an online survey to provide feedback regarding each candidate.听听

Each finalist candidate will discuss the following topic: 鈥淲hat are the key challenges facing interdisciplinary colleges of public health over the next decade, and how would you lead the College to meet these challenges?鈥澨

All presentations will be held in-person and also will be available for virtual participation. Sessions will be recorded.听听

Reminder: Charter Buses on Campus

If your unit is hosting an event with any number of charter buses on campus, please coordinate their visit with the Parking Services office. Even one charter bus needs to be accommodated for drop-off, pick-up, and parking. 听

Charter buses should not be advised to pick-up or drop-off at Rappahannock River Lane or the Sandy Creek Transit Center. Both locations are transit hubs and there is not sufficient space to allow charter bus access. 听

5th Annual Summit for Programs, Events, or Camps (PEC) Serving Minors

Organizations hosting programs, events, or camps (PEC) serving minors are invited to attend Mason's 5th annual PEC Summit, hosted virtually on Wednesday, April 6, from 10 to 11 a.m. Q&A session will follow from 11 a.m. to noon.听听

Presenters from Operations and Business Services will听demonstrate听the new PEC registration process. Other PEC policy stakeholders and service providers will be available to answer questions听regarding听summer programming needs.听

Those who attend the monthly PEC committee meetings will receive听a virtual event invitation. Others who are thinking about hosting a program serving minors should contact听Buz Grover听to听receive the PEC Summit event link.

Self-Care in the Face of Adversity

In this live Anthem听webinar, participants will learn about adversity, trauma symptoms, triggers, and how to care for themselves while dealing with these issues. The session will explore听different sources听and types of听traumas. Participants will learn how to develop tools to set healthy boundaries and听maintain听optimal听self-care.听

Mario R. Rossero is the executive director of the National Art Education Association (NAEA). He is an experienced art educator with roles as a museum educator, classroom art teacher, and adjunct professor and has held a number of supervision/administration roles in the Pittsburgh and Chicago school systems. As director of arts for Chicago Public Schools, Mario spearheaded the first strategic arts education plan for the city aimed at increasing equity and access to arts education for all students. Prior to his current role, he was the senior vice president of education for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He serves on a number of advisory boards and is a practicing visual artist.听 is the professional lecture series of the School of Art and represents a window into the professional world of art and design.听
