New Year Sparkles with New Performances

Despite winter鈥檚 frigid temperatures,聽Hylton Presents聽performances heat up Merchant Hall this February with an inspiring and diverse offering of entertainment from classical repertoire by one of eastern Poland鈥檚 largest music institutions to a celebration of Latinx cultures through innovative dance.

The (2/5) rouses spirits in an evening of innovative works that explore themes of resiliency and freedom. Under the direction of esteemed Maestro Wojciech Rodek, the program features Polish composers Witold Lutos艂awski鈥檚 Mala Suite and Fr茅d茅ric Chopin鈥檚 Piano Concerto No. 2, as well as pieces by other acclaimed composers, including Schubert, Grieg, Brahms, and more. Piano soloist Tomasz Ritter, first-prize winner of the 1st聽International Chopin聽Competition on Period Instruments聽in Warsaw, also performs with the orchestra. Gracing the stage in mid-February is the vibrant dance troupe and Hylton Center Artists-in-Residence, . A renowned Latinx dance organization, was recently recognized by the Ford Foundation as one of America鈥檚 Cultural Treasures. Enjoy an evening that celebrates and explores Latinx cultures through innovative dance. As Artists-in-Residence, the ensemble will also work with the community through classes and workshops聽during the week leading up to their February 19 performance.
