OSCAR Virtual Celebration of Student Scholarship

Save the date for the Office of Student Scholarship, Creative Activities, and Research’s (OSCAR) Summer Virtual Celebration of Student Scholarship on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 5 and 6.

Support Mason’s student scholars who have worked hard all summer by viewing their pre-recorded presentations and asking them questions. Students represent colleges and programs across the university community and have worked on both faculty research questions as well as their own research.

Textbook Orders

To ensure students are able to purchase and receive textbooks and course materials prior to the start of the fall semester,Ìýfaculty need to submit their orders to the bookstore immediately. Some publishers are still experiencing shipping delays, which could impact students’ ability to be prepared for the semester.

Place book orders for all your courses through your department. Individuals responsible for submitting department orders can do so through AIP (Adoptions and Insights Portal) or emailingÌýbookstor@gmu.edu. The link to AIP is available through Blackboard, or visit Ìýand login using your Net ID. Email questions toÌýbookstor@gmu.edu.


Single-Use Plastics and Polystyrene are Banned at Mason

Governor Northam signed Executive Order 77 in March, effectively banning single-use plastics and polystyrene from state agencies, including Mason.

Mason purchasers and vendors should after July 21.

As an overall waste reduction strategy, let’s re-frame our thinking to "Buy Less, Buy Better." For example, if you purchase giveaways, support sustainability by purchasing durable, climate-neutral reusables, or contact the task force.

Staff Senate Election

Voting in the Staff Senate Election is underway through Friday, July 23, at 5 p.m. Ballots are distributed directly to constituents’ email inboxes. Each ballot can be completed only once. .

The ballot also includes the annual Staff Senate survey, which collects information from constituents to guide the senate's work in the coming year.

The Staff Senate represents all classified and non-student wage employees. Contact staffsenate@gmu.edu with questions.


Mason Study Abroad Week: Sept. 20-24Ìý

The Global Education Office (GEO) invites the Mason community to participate inÌýMason’s Fall 2021 Study Abroad Week, featuring virtual and in-person events from Sept. 20–24.

VirtualÌýsessions will run throughout the week, culminating in the in-person Mason Study Abroad Fair onÌýThursday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the SUB I Quad. This is GEO’s largest recruiting event of the semester.
